The Jomsom trek which allows you to visit to one of the most popular destinations of Nepal called Jomsom and Muktinath. Both Jomsom and Muktinath have got recognition of great place to visit for many reasons. Jomsom being the place with high altitude of 2700 meter having rich culture and customs of Tibetan society in Nepali flavor stands tall among the most visited destinations in Nepal.

Thakali reside in majority of number in this place. Moreover, Jomsom is also the headquarters of Mustang district which makes it more popular and commercial.  The Jomsom Trek also leads you to visit Muktinath, the highest place in the Jomsom Trek, a mutual shrine for Buddhist and Hindus which is situated at an altitude of 3,800 meters. The culture and custom of this high land will be understood and observed more when you visit one of the popular Himalayan place of Nepal called Kagbeni.

Kagbeni is renowned as the most exotic village which shimmers the shine of Tibetan culture where chortens and monasteries are found in substantial numbers along with prayer wheels and colorful flags with mantras. The higher you pave, the more predominant would be an experience of the communities such as Thakali, Gurung and Sherpa.

Itinerary

Day 01: From Kathmandu to Pokhara

Crossing the Kathmandu valley through Prithvi Highway, the travel continues on the same highway viewing the turning and twist of the road following the Trishuli River. The journey enthuse you with the scenic view of houses positioned on the slope-looking hills.

You will experience the structural differences of the buildings while moving further to Pokhara from Kathmandu. And one more thing, your nose will sense more differences than anything else. The journey will take about 6/7 hours of travel.

Day 02: Naya Pool (940 meters) to Tikhedhunga (1540 meters)

Driving up to Naya Pool. Then the trek starts with adventurous hiking further following the bank of Modi Khola. During your first day trek, you would be mesmerized to see the beauty of the pine trees, rhododendron, and rice-fields looking like amphitheater.

The experience of rustic setting keeps continuing with different cultures and practices of ethnic communities. Not making your legs more fatigue, and requesting to the hurried heads to relax for this day, trek concludes to Tikhedhunga. We exercise our legs by 3/4 hours of hike.

Day 03: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2850 meters)

Considering the trek hours of about 3 to 4 hours, the trek resumes for day three from Tikhedunga. Trailing up to reach Ulleri village, we pave on the stone steps, greenery forest, and the trees of rhododendron along the way.

Even though the trek looks strenuous because of uphill hike, the charming beauty of the nature and the soul-inspiring view of the peaks such as Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri and Annapurna will definitely makes you forget the difficulty of the path. In spite of the feeling fatigue to your legs and muscles, your eyes and heart will rejuvenates more than ever.

Day 04: Ghorepani to Tatopani (1190 meters)

To make the visit most surprising and amazing, early in the morning, the trek goes to Pun Hill to view the golden glow of the early morning sun on the horizon making the snowy mountains glimmering and glowing golden with shining rays.

It’s breath-taking experience which charges you for rest of the trek. Continuing the trek fo 3/4 hours arrives your todays’ destination Tatopani.

Day 05: Tatopani to Ghasa (2010 meter)

The trail ascends up following the edge of Kali Gandaki gorge. It is said to be the deepest gorge in the world. Further comes the rocky trail take you to Dana. You will keep walking on the rocky path which allows you the scene of a waterfall called Rupchhahara.

After walking for six hours this day, you will come to today’s destination Ghasa.

Day 06: Ghasa to Tukuche (2590 meter)

Following the path of the forest, you continue the trek towards Lete. Before you come to the village of Lete, you will cross the Lete Khola.  After arriving to Lete, you see the buildings made of stone erected in the village.  As you follow the path, you arrive at Kalopani.

Again, the bank of the Gali Gandaki river meets you there onwards to follow the way to Tukuche. About six hours of walk eventually bring you at Tukuche. Overnight stay will be at a guest house.

Day 07: Tukuche to Kagbeni (2800 meter)

The bitter cold and barren land would give you the sense of a desert when you trail further up towards Kagbeni.  The greenery forest and tall trees are the part of past when the trail comes to this land where chill air will welcome you too much extent.

Be prepared to enjoy the finger-numbing and skin-tearnig climate. Your six hours of trek will comes to an end to Kagbeni. Overnight stay will be at a guest house.

Day 08: Kagbeni to Muktinath (3800 meter)

From Kagbeni you will start the journey to one of the most famous places of Nepal for its trekking for a long time. Walking about four hours with slow pace you will reach to Muktinath. Before Muktinath, you will also come to pass Khirghar and Jharkot.

Day 09: Exploration Day at Muktinath

The day will be utilized for exploring the beauty and magnitude this divine holy place. Muktinath, a sanctified shrine both for Hindu and Buddhist is one of the most celebrated place in Nepal, where 108 taps flow water.

In the neighboring distance there is located a Jwala Mai Temple which flames the light by natural gas generated from underground. Wow, this day contains the longest trek of nine hours. Overnight stay will be at a guest house.

Day 10: Muktinath to Jomsom (2665 meters)

As soon as you arrive at the Muktinath, you would not long to leave this holy Himalayan hermit. You would get mesmerized by the serenity and divinity this place presents to you. Even though the blessed feeling of Muktinath can’t be superseded by any place in entire trail, you would definitely want to visit the place called Kagbeni.

Because of its ancient link and relation with Tibet, it has complete cultural influence of Tibet. To magnify your experience and understanding on Tibetan culture, Kagbeni would be the place not to miss when you have come very close to it. The trail runs down to Kali Gandaki gorge via Kagbeni.

Make sure you’ve almost fill your storage capturing the amazing and astonishing beauty of the nature, and prosperity of the culture and of course your own adventurous trek in the form of video or photo.

Eventually, through the hike downwards, you arrive at another popular destination of the trek called Jomsom. Before arriving the jamboree junction of people, you trek for 6 hour this day.

Day 11: Jomsom to Pokhara

Yes, now the time has come you to take you directly to Pokhara by flight. May be it’s time for resting your legs and body, and giving time to the fingers to get in to the social media, family and friends. (If you love sharing in the social media). Having kept the fact in mind that Pokhara being the best place for paragliding, you would enjoy the panoramic view of Pokhara.

Day 12: Pokhara to Kathmandu

Here you come again to the place you’d first landed while arriving to the country. Collecting and accumulating the unbelievable and unforgettable parts and portion of the trek, you finally arrive to Kathmandu. With the best hope and happiness, we extend our heat-felt thanks to you for being the part of this awe-inspiring trekking.
